so on the local news I happened to notice a fellow on there keeping all of his herbs in glass jars....didn't seem to matter what was previously in those jars so really if it is a matter of expense then save your money and spend it instead on ways to sterilize the glass after you get it

WE ALL VOTED FOR GLASS..
BUT BE SURE IT'S DARK GLASS, BLUE OR BROWN SO THAT UV DOES NOT GET ONTO THE STUFF.
BE SURE THAT THERE IS NO EXTRA DAMP AIR IN WITH TWIGS... MOLD CAN GROW, TO AVOID THAT FREEZE THE STUFF IN GLASS, OR USE SIZE PLASTIC.

THROW OUT LAST YEARS....
THEY HAVE LOST THEIR TASTE.
BUY FRESH, WHOLE NEW DEAL... FRIENDS WILL ENJOY YOUR COOKING MORE.
GROW IT NOT IN SHADE = MAKES THEM LANKY AND LESS FLAVORED, OR GET IT AT FAVORITE FARM GARDEN.

SOME FLAVORS DISAPPEAR IF YOU PUT THEM ON TOO EARLY
IN THE COOKING = PARSLEYS, GROUND= PEPPER..

Definitely glass. Even if you will be keeping the same spice in the same jar, the plastic absorption taking the flavor and aroma out of your spices and the plastic possibly 'leaching' will affect how they taste. Also, plastic jars can be chewed through by bugs and mice, ruining both the jar and the spices. I have found that my spices taste a lot fresher when they are stored in glass jars. Thanks for asking.

Glass with gas tight is preferred, glass is more Resistance and do not react with spices.Plastic tends to emit plastic odour under prolong storage

glasses for sure. in terms of material degradation as well as preservation, glass material is far more superior than plastic.

Glass would be the best way to store spices, since it will not effect the spice in any way. Plastic sometimes leaches and will affect the actual flavor and smell of a spice. Also, glass seems to preserve the spice's lastisity for a longer period of time. AnswerGirl

Glass definitely. Plastic tends to absorb the odours, which means that the odours are being removed from the spices.
